INTRODUCTION
Every Ghanaian has a right to information which is enshrined in Article 21(f) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. In order to enable citizens exercise their right to information, the parliament of Ghana passed the Right To Information Act, 2019, (Act 989) which was assented to by the President in May 2019.
The RTI Act 989, among other things, seeks to promote transparency, accountability, and participation in governance by making information held by public institutions, and private institutions which receive public funding accessible to the citizenry.
In compliance with this law, RTI unit has been instituted within the Public Relations and Consumer Affairs Department of the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC) to facilitate access to Information. The RTI Unit is positioned to accept and process all applications for information in line with the provisions of the RTI Act 989. Additionally, Mr. Nii Yebuah Edwin Burgesson and Mr. Patrick Paye-Baah have been assigned as the Designated RTI Officer and RTI Officer respectively to facilitate this cause.
